Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and [Registered company name], [address], Finland ("The Study Deck", "we", "us"), and they govern your use of The Study Deck website and application.

By creating an account you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

You need an account to use The Study Deck. You must give accurate information when you register, keep your password confidential, and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

You keep ownership of everything you upload. We claim no rights over your course material.

You grant us a limited licence to store, process and transform your material for one purpose only: operating the service for you — reading your documents, generating study material from them, and answering your questions about them. This licence ends when you delete the material or your account.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Lecture slides and textbooks are usually protected by copyright, and your right to use them for private study does not always extend to sharing them with other users. Do not upload material you are not permitted to use this way, and do not share material publicly through The Study Deck unless you are entitled to.

Do not upload unlawful content, or documents containing sensitive personal data about other people.

The Study Deck uses language models to produce notes, flashcards, quizzes and answers from your material. These are generated automatically and can be wrong, incomplete, or subtly misleading, even when they read convincingly.

Generated study material is a study aid, not an authoritative source. It is not a substitute for your course material, your instructors, or professional advice of any kind — medical, legal, financial or otherwise. Check anything that matters against the original.

You are responsible for how you use what The Study Deck produces, including compliance with your institution’s rules on academic integrity and the use of AI tools. Those rules vary between institutions, and it is your responsibility to know yours.

Do not attempt to break, overload, or circumvent the limits of the service, including its usage quotas. Do not resell access, scrape the service, or use it to build a competing product. Do not use it to generate content that is unlawful or that harms others.

We may suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first.

The Study Deck offers a free plan and paid plans. Prices are shown on the pricing page in euro and include applicable VAT unless stated otherwise.

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep access until then. We do not refund partial periods except where the law requires it.

Each plan has explicit usage limits, published on the pricing page. Generating study material is computationally expensive, and those limits are how the service stays affordable. If you reach a limit, generation pauses until your next period or until you upgrade.

We may change prices or plan limits. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice before a change affects an existing paid subscription, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

If you are a consumer in the EU, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. By starting to use a paid plan within that period you ask us to begin supplying the service immediately, and you acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully supplied.

We work to keep The Study Deck available and to process uploads reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Processing jobs can fail, and models can be temporarily unavailable. We may change or discontinue features.

If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your material.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. In particular, we are not liable for academic outcomes: study material generated from your uploads may contain errors, and reviewing your own course material remains your responsibility.

If you are a consumer, you keep all rights granted to you by mandatory consumer protection law, and nothing here overrides them.

You can stop using The Study Deck and delete your account at any time. Deletion of your data follows the timelines in our privacy policy.

We may terminate this agreement on reasonable notice, or immediately in the case of a serious breach of these terms.

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify you before it takes effect. Continuing to use The Study Deck after that means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you are a consumer, you may also rely on the mandatory law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
